Aaliyah - Gone too Soon, Still At 10 Years, Never Forgotten

It's been 10 years since we received the tragic news of Aaliyah's death. On this day, Wonda Music remembers the beautiful, charming icon, that at just 22 years touched the world with her soothing voice, dance, style and acting:

    YFame, Artist -

Aaliyah was definitely one of my favorites growing up. I remember being in Manhattan, New York two days before 9/11. I went and bought "We Need A Resolution" on 12'' vinyl as a souvenir . I actually have that record stored in my attic where NOBODY can touch it. "Back And Forth" was one of my favorite songs , along with "We Need A Resolution" & "More Than A Woman". Aaliyah lives on forever through her music. One of the most talented rests in peace.

    Akos, Producer -

I'll never forget that day. August 25, 2001.  It was such a tragic loss to music. 10 years ago,  I was working with Akhenaton (IAM) and an amazing opportunity came up - Aaliyah agreed to do a featuring  on one of my tracks....  That Saturday, 4 days before my trip, I was literally packing my bags to fly to NYC for the session when a friend called me up and told me the news. When I heard the news that day, it was unreal - she actually had the CD of my music with her in the Bahamas that we were going to record on.  In honor of her, Akhentaton and I decided to record the track and give all the proceeds from that single to the Aaliyah Foundation.   Music lost a special voice that year.  Aaliyah still gives me inspiration every day.

Rest In Peace Aaliyah Dana Haughton

Rock the Boat was one of my favorite records. I think it was her last song before she passed. She will be forever missed.
